We’ve made it to 2013! January is almost over and the mad dash to get gifting completed is in our rear view mirrors (well, for the most part). We’ve gone through the ringing in of the new year and now it’s time for all of us to decide if we are keeping up with those new year’s resolutions or not. I’m proud to say I’m still keeping up with mine. Part of my resolution is to focus more on myself and do things because I enjoy them, not because someone else wants me to. One of the things I enjoy most is helping other people. I have been part of a non-profit group called “The Atomic Angels” since 2011 when the group was founded. The group is based out of Sacramento and each month we gather together to throw events that will benefit a charity. Some events we’ve held include an annual teddy bear drive in December in which we gave all the bears to the children at Shriner’s Hospital, an annual pie drive in November in which we deliver all of the pies to a homeless shelter for Thanksgiving, and for February we will be throwing a Mardi Gras event in which you can pay $10 for entry or bring 5 boxed or canned food items which will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. Although it has been a bit of a strain to make events and put in my share since I am the only member out of the Sacramento area, I do it because it’s something I enjoy. I hope all of you are sticking to your resolutions! If you’re interested in following some of the events “The Atomic Angels” throw, feel free to follow us on Facebook!
