Previously I wrote a blog about a method called “Capsula Mundi” which is a burial method created in Italy. The human body, after death, is placed into an egg shaped capsule and planted in the ground. A tree is planted on top of the capsule and as time passes, the remains fertilize the tree.
This week I was searching online and saw a new method bearing the same concept: Bios Urn. A Bios Urn is an urn made out of 100% biodegradable materials. No glues or chemical adhesives are used which makes the urn biodegradable and safe for the environment. The bottom portion of the urn contains the ashes of your loved one; you can use all ashes or a portion of the ashes. The top portion of the urn contains a soil mixture and a soil disc which mixes the ashes as it expands. The seed for a tree of your choice is planted into the soil mixture.
On the website, you can shop for your urn. You can choose your tree or choose an urn in which you can place your own seed into for $145.00 (after shipping the cost is approximately $161.00). Not only can you purchase an urn for your loved ones, you can also purchase them for your pets.
It’s wonderful to see so many people concerned about the environment and its future. Not only is this method cost efficient, it helps our world: a win-win situation!
