We at Falk, Cornell and Associates, take the confidentiality of our clients very seriously. If a family member, friend or financial advisor calls this office requesting information about your estate plan we do not provide such information nor do we acknowledge to them that you are clients of this Law Firm. Clients are often not aware that such information has been requested by these individuals. While we respect the fact that you may want to share this information with them, we cannot do so without your written consent. Our January 2013 newsletter covered this topic under Restriction on Sharing Information with your family, friends and financial advisors. In addition, we included an Authorization to Release Information to Family form. If you do not have this and would like for our office to send you another one, please give us a call or email us at email@example.com to obtain one of these forms.
So please keep in mind when requesting one of your family members or friends to call this office and to request information or documents on your behalf this request will not be honored, as we are here to protect your interest. However, if we receive written authorization from you requesting us to release information regarding your estate plan then we can do so. We always try to go above and beyond to assist our clients, especially in a time of need, such as an illness or death. We will do everything we can to be helpful, however, without written authorization; we are unable to even acknowledge that you are a client.
